LIBRARIAN

I’m a chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals, and a member of IAML (International Association of Music Libraries).  I’m also a member of the Royal Musical Association – but that’s with my “musical hat” on!

HIGHLIGHTS:-

  • January 2017.  We are now all Performing Arts Librarians. Our specialisms are still recognised, but we are promoting a more inclusive and collaborative approach to supporting our community.
  • April 2016. Another Excellence Award for the Whittaker Library.  You know, we must be quite good!
  • May 2014. Reflecting on my Teaching Practice as an Academic Librarian – read this blogpost HERE.
  • April 2014. IAML UK & Ireland Annual Study Weekend in Cambridge.  It was a busy trip, as I gave a paper at the Academic Music Librarians’ Seminar; led two quickfire sessions on library social media best practice; and received an Excellence Award for the Whittaker Library and a Personal Achievement Award for myself. I'm a musicologist disguised as a librarian. I'm qualified in music, librarianship and education. I began this blog when I was studying for my PGCert in Learning & Teaching in Higher Arts Education, and I'm now using it for CPD. I'm a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Midweek I am PI for an AHRC-funded research network @ClaimedStatHall – early legal deposit music. Off-duty I'm hard-wired into my sewing machine!
